Search engines have been quietly restructuring around video, AI-generated summaries, and paid placements. Studies now show nearly 60 percent of searches end without a single click. Users get a preview, a snippet, a short clip, and move on. The article never gets opened. The writer never gets read.

What we're losing isn't just a preference for text. It's a certain kind of attention. The kind that lets you slow down, reread a sentence, sit with an idea. Video doesn't offer that. Neither does a four-line AI summary.
