The Unattended: Kyler Efinger’s Story and the Call to Notice

On New Year’s Day 2025, Kyler Efinger made a desperate dash through Salt Lake City Airport that ended in a tragedy no one could stop. Today on InSight Out, Devin Almonte explores Kyler’s story and asks why we so often walk past people in crisis. What does it mean to notice those who are hurting, and how can we step in with compassion instead of walking by?

In this episode, we’ll discuss:

  • The heartbreaking events that unfolded at Salt Lake City Airport
  • Why people often ignore those who seem troubled (the bystander effect)
  • What scripture teaches about noticing and engaging with those in need
  • Practical steps to move from indifference to intentionality
  • How we can be better noticers in our everyday lives

Join Devin as she reflects on the story of Kyler Efinger and challenges us to live with open eyes and open hearts.

About the Podcast

INSIGHT OUT
Clarity for the mind. Joy for the heart. Truth for the times. Christian news, devotionals & podcast conversations to help us flourish.
Think, see, and live differently. By uncovering God’s truth and removing the blinders that keep us from seeing clearly, we are called not only to reflect on these truths when we rise, when we lie down, and in all we do, but to live them out in every area of our lives.

As Deuteronomy 6:6-7 reminds us, “These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.” Faith is not meant to stay in our thoughts; it is meant to be lived out in action. What fills our minds and hearts shapes our lives, and what we truly believe must become evident in how we live. Together, we will learn what it means to live this out every day.

This is more than a podcast; it is a way of life, a call to see life InSight Out, to live as we were created to live, flourish as God intended, and build our lives on the rock-solid foundation of His Word. Why? Because how we live matters.
