Anchor Points: First Things First. Why Prioritizing God Changes Everything
Ever found your day slipping by without a moment for God?
And deeper still… do you ever notice how the tone of your day shifts when you start with Him versus when you don’t? That’s the heart of today’s Anchor Point.
We often rush into our day fueled by coffee, to-do lists, and deadlines—but forget the most important priority of all: time with God. Devin Almonte shares her own experiences of how her best days begin in quiet prayer, and how the rushed ones reveal just how easy it is to push God to the end of the line.
In today’s Anchor Point, Devin explores:
- Why seeking God first sets the tone for the rest of your day
- How small distractions add up to big spiritual drift
- Simple ways to prioritize your time with Him, even in a busy schedule
Scripture (NIV):
Matthew 6:33 – “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”

What's your morning routine like when you first get up? Are you rushed? Do you have that time to have your coffee or are you just racing out the door trying to grab some food on the way to, when we do that, we're missing what I would argue is probably the most important meeting of the day, and that is our time with Christ.
And I know this because I've been there. I know what it's like when I rush out the door and I know how my day goes when I rush out the door like that and not turning to God. Not only that, but Matthew 6:33, which really tells us seek first the kingdom of God and not just because God's saying, well, this is what I want, it's good for us.
My best days start when it's just me and the Lord early in the morning before the world wakes up. There's something so special about that quiet time in prayer. Some reflection just it. It sets the tone for the entire day and it's just the way it goes. If I don't do that, it is very hard to try to.
Incorporate God into my day later. I think I'll spend some of that intentional time with God when I get home, after the gym, after lunch, after the kids do their homework after dinner, and then before you know it, the day's done. So that's our challenge today. How can we put God first? What is it that you do?
I'd love to hear about it. We're gonna be talking about in my Facebook group and if you are not a member of my Facebook group for InSight Out , it's all free. It's a great place where we meet so I'd love for you to join.
