What If AI Could Bring Back Someone You Lost? | The InSight Out Show | Ep. 68

A new AI app is offering something that sounds comforting and unsettling at the same time: the chance to keep talking with someone after they’ve died. Using a few minutes of video and other personal data, the technology can create an interactive version of a loved one that continues showing up for future conversations and family moments.

For anyone who has experienced grief, it’s easy to understand the appeal. We save voicemails, photos, videos, and anything else that helps us remember. But there may be a difference between preserving a memory and creating new moments with a person who is no longer here. As technology gets better at helping us avoid painful realities, could some forms of comfort actually keep us from walking through the grief that needs to be felt?

Where is the line between remembering someone you love and trying to recreate their presence?

When grief hurts, are we looking for something that removes the pain or something that helps us walk faithfully through it?
